Advanced players play with peers, but also are asked to team up with others to share ideas and skills. We share and rotate court time. We play in a supportive, positive environment. You will need to bring enthusiasm, a racket (we have them for evaluation, sale and a few to use until you get one) a change of court shoes (no outside shoes in the gym) and water. We provide shuttles, but you may use your own. This is a recreational and developmental program, and we share court time. Preregistration through the Carlisle Recreation is required. Using games, discussions, and simple projects, students learn real-world skills such as making spending choices, setting goals, comparing savings options, and understanding the basics of credit and interest. The goal is to introduce students to essential financial literacy skills — helping them understand money, budgeting, saving, credit, and how financial choices shape their futures. By the end of the program, students will be able to:
Explain what money is and why it exists.
Create a simple budget using the 50/30/20 rule.
Understand saving, interest (simple and compound), and liquidity.
Compare different savings and borrowing options.
Recognize how credit and credit scores work.
Apply financial decision-making and opportunity cost concepts to real-life situations.
Students will finish the course with a foundational understanding of personal finance. They will gain confidence in managing money, recognize the trade-offs between saving and spending, and begin forming habits that support long-term financial well-being. *Recreation Staff will plan to meet the children at the end of the school day and walk with them to class.

Friday Night Live 2025-2026 - FNL: All (Except 4/4) - October 3, November 7, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 6, May 1, June 5 FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE Dates: October 3, November 7, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 6, *April 4 (Saturday), May 1, and June 5*April’s FNL is on Saturday, April 4, 2026 off-site and requires a different registration and is FREE. Time: 7:00 – 9:00 pm (unless otherwise posted) Eligible Participants: Must be residents of Carlisle who are in grades 5 – 8 whether at Carlisle Public School, Private School, or Home Schooled. Coordinator: Carlisle Youth Commission CARLISLE YOUTH COMMISSION – FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE The Carlisle Youth Commission (CYC) is a town committee made up of five (5) to eight (8) Carlisle parents/guardians. The primary goal of the CYC is to provide safe, all-inclusive, and fun monthly FNL events for Carlisle middle school-aged residents (grades 5-8) from public and private schools, as well as those who are home-schooled, to socialize with their peers. These monthly events have become known as Friday Night Live (FNL). FNL is typically held on the first Friday of the month in the Corey Gym and Exercise Room at the Carlisle Public School from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., unless pre-empted by a scheduling conflict or occurring on a snow day. FNL is run by members of the CYC with help from parent chaperones. Although FNL is held at the Carlisle Public School, FNL is sponsored by the Town of Carlisle rather than by the Carlisle Public School.FNL themes vary from month to month. Monthly activities include volleyball, basketball, ping pong, arts and crafts, a movie and a DJ for dancing. Occasionally, we have special events such as an obstacle course challenge, basketball tournament and/or professional Photo Booth. The fee per FNL event is $15, this helps to defray the cost for our DJ, decorations, SWAG, equipment and pizza, snacks and drinks. Once registered for an event, your child will receive tickets at the door, which they can use as collateral for pizza, snacks, and/or photos at the photo booth. In order to attend any FNL event, your eligible child MUST BE REGISTERED IN ADVANCE. WE WILL NOT PERMIT ANY CHILD THAT IS NOT FULLY REGISTERED IN ADVANCE TO ATTEND AN FNL EVENT. IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT FULLY REGISTERED, THEY WILL BE TURNED AWAY AT THE DOOR AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO CALL YOU TO PICK THEM BACK UP. Using games, discussions, and simple projects, students learn real-world skills such as making spending choices, setting goals, comparing savings options, and understanding the basics of credit and interest. The goal is to introduce students to essential financial literacy skills — helping them understand money, budgeting, saving, credit, and how financial choices shape their futures. By the end of the program, students will be able to:
Explain what money is and why it exists.
Create a simple budget using the 50/30/20 rule.
Understand saving, interest (simple and compound), and liquidity.
Compare different savings and borrowing options.
Recognize how credit and credit scores work.
Apply financial decision-making and opportunity cost concepts to real-life situations.
Students will finish the course with a foundational understanding of personal finance.
