This new program caters to children who exhibit neurodiversity, particularly those with level 1 ASD, along with individuals diagnosed with other mild forms of neurodivergence. The class size will remain intentionally small, with the potential for additional slots based on demand. Each session will run for approximately 30-45 minutes.

Learn the unique Olympic sport of archery this season and build confidence, self-esteem and focus. Using beautiful wooden recurve bows, this martial art has countless mental and physical health benefits to help students succeed on and off the range. Sessions are led by teams of certified USA Archery instructors who design exciting new lesson plans each week that balance skill building drills with friendly competition to make the experience one of the best recreational sports your child can participate in. For many children it is easy to strike up a conversation or join one already in progress but for others engaging in small talk or starting a conversation can be challenging. Developing a child’s conversational skills and etiquette is important as it helps them build confidence, cultivate friendships, and understand social expectations. A child who is good at communicating verbally will often produce better written communication and interpret what they read more accurately, helping them in all areas of academics. Our 90-minute conversation skills workshop will cover some of the following topics.
Topics Include: Why is small talk important, How to start a conversation, Icebreakers to start a conversation, How to keep a conversation going, How to end a conversation, Topics to avoid, Active listening and not interrupting, Being respectful and non-judgmental, Rude and disrespectful body language and behavior, Giving and receiving compliments and much more.

Like to take your school aged children out to eat with you at a fine dining or large social event but you’re a little afraid of how they might behave? Actually, the earlier the better when it comes to teaching children dining etiquette. Sam Sifton, Food Editor for the New York Times states, “Kids are awesome, and they should be a part of the dining experience,” says Sifton. “Anytime we go to a restaurant, we are entering into a social contract with everyone else in the restaurant. I’m not trying to ruin your good time, and you’re not trying to ruin mine. It’s important to model that behavior, so kids can accept the social contract and have a good time.” Introducing your child to proper table manners and dining etiquette today can help build their confidence in any social setting tomorrow! In today’s fast-paced, high-tech society, teaching children manners is more crucial than ever. One of the most important jobs we have as parents and teachers is to help children develop social skills, show them how to interact with others in a polite manner, and teach them to treat everyone with respect. Whether the occasion is a family gathering, a meal at a restaurant, or a quick trip to the grocery store, children can apply our lessons in any social situation and practice good manners so that they become a habitual part of their lives and set them apart. Circuit Makers 101

Let’s get creative with electricity! In this junior hands-on electronics class, students will gain experience with creating their own electronics, designing custom light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even musical instruments. Each class day consists of a circuitry lesson and a hands-on electronics project, using components like lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. Circuit Lab staff will make sure participants create a project that they can be proud of each day. Most class days include a take-home project. *Recreation Staff will plan to meet the children at the end of the school day and walk with them to class.
Creature Creator Robotics

Parents report that kids come home from Kids’ Test Kitchen EXCITED about fresh ingredients and new recipes! Reluctant eaters learn that food is safe and fun! And everyone practices essential life skills like teamwork, time management, patience, along with the obvious skills like slicing, measuring, and cooking! On a mission to redefine kid food; Kids’ Test Kitchen’s enthusiastic Facilitators get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients! Kids’ Test Kitchen presents kids the opportunity to explore new or familiar foods in their raw, unmanipulated state. Then, working as a team, they’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until they’ve prepared the finished dish. Class closes with an opportunity to taste the result of their hard work. Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned! Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation is encouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own. Lessons are planned to celebrate seasonal produce, whole grains, and legumes. Yes – join us again! Each series of classes offers fresh new recipes to prepare and explore! “Managing Your Finances” is a hands-on, interactive financial literacy course designed to make money management fun, relatable, and practical for middle school students. Using games, discussions, and simple projects, students learn real-world skills such as making spending choices, setting goals, comparing savings options, and understanding the basics of credit and interest. The goal is to introduce students to essential financial literacy skills — helping them understand money, budgeting, saving, credit, and how financial choices shape their futures. By the end of the program, students will be able to:
- Explain what money is and why it exists.
- Create a simple budget using the 50/30/20 rule.
- Understand saving, interest (simple and compound), and liquidity.
- Compare different savings and borrowing options.
- Recognize how credit and credit scores work.
- Apply financial decision-making and opportunity cost concepts to real-life situations.
Students will finish the course with a foundational understanding of personal finance. They will gain confidence in managing money, recognize the trade-offs between saving and spending, and begin forming habits that support long-term financial well-being.

We wanted to update everyone on our waitlist policy now and going forward. Theater programs work differently than most activities. Most theater programs hold auditions to make sure their cast is balanced for parts in a show. We do not hold auditions and welcome all but do need to take measures to make sure our casts are balanced enough with different ages for our program to work. Come get ready for your Fall musical choreography! We’ll focus on building skills, vocabulary, and musicality so you’re ready to jump into your musical theater role. The class will focus on musical theater style jazz as well as how you can bring your character to the choreography. Jazz or ballet shoes are preferred, but socks or bare feet are also options if the student is comfortable.
Instructor Bio: Gretchen Gallimore is an experienced dancer and sometimes teaching artist. She’s excited to be able to offer this class to the Carlisle community! She’s been dancing since she was three studying ballet, tap, and multiple jazz forms. She has a Masters in Theater Education from Emerson College. Her day job is as the Executive Assistant at Town Hall, so you may have seen her around.

Fashion Illustration students will learn how to draw stylized, proportional fashion figures and how to sketch and illustrate their creative designs on illustration boards. Classes will focus on illustrating realistic looking textiles and their draping using a variety of artistic mediums. Students will also be able to learn (with lots of discussion and class input) all about today’s styles and fashion trends. Students will also make assessors to go with their new fashion designs such as scarves, bracelets and earrings.

The Marcus Lewis Racquet Club Extension Program is a non-profit that specializes in offering high-level tennis instruction through community programming. The Extension Program utilizes professional instructors and the most current methods to achieve the most effective results.
