Instructor: Rachel Emery, PT, RYT 200. Rachel started practicing yoga many years ago as a training adjunct to running and playing tennis. Seeing benefits in other parts of her life, she deepened her practice by adding meditation and breath work. The combination of these practices has had a profound effect on both her physical and mental health, and she is excited to share these benefits with others. Rachel completed her 200-hour teacher training at Revolution Community Yoga, as well as supplementary coursework in Chair Yoga. In addition, Rachel has over 25 years of experience working with all ages and abilities as a licensed physical therapist. Off the mat, Rachel enjoys painting and photography. She likes the way these pursuits, like yoga, help her to be present, focused, and fully engaged.
Program Summary: Slow Flow Yoga is an all-levels class focusing on breath work, mobility, and gentle movement. Attention is given to cultivating full body awareness and a sense of calm energy. This class begins with a flow of postures designed to warm and open the body and closes with grounding restorative postures and an extended mindfulness practice. You will work in this class to build strength in bones, muscles, and balance. Modifications will be offered, allowing each student to find the right version of a pose for their body. Students can expect to come away from this class feeling centered and refreshed. No experience is necessary.
*Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and yoga blocks (optional).
