Chess Empire Kids
Dates:  Thursdays, January 9-March 13 (No Clas 2/20) 
Time:  3:15-4:15pm – Beginner*
          4:15-5:15pm – Advanced/Intermediate
Who:   Ages 5-14
Fee:     $240 (8 Wks)
Location:        The Brick Building, 97 School Street
Instructor:       International Master Prathiba Y
Join us for a Chess Club run by International Master Prathiba Y, teaches young children the game of chess with an emphasis on having fun! Prathiba won the US Open Women’s Championship in 2013 and 2014 and has ten years of coaching experience at schools and recreation departments in NY, MA, and NH. Prathiba also directs USCF chess tournaments every month.
Beginner: Participants will learn about movement of pieces, check, checkmate, and beginner tactics and strategies. The class will be 30 minutes of lesson time and 30 minutes of supervised playtime. All materials will be provided, but please bring a pencil.
Advance/Intermediate: Participants will learn about Intermediate/Advanced tactics and strategies for opening, middle and end game. We will have a fun tournament at the end of each session. The class will be 30 minutes of lesson time and 30 minutes of supervised playtime. All materials will be provided, but please bring a pencil.
*Recreation Staff will plan to meet the children at the end of the school day and walk with them to class.
